Monthly Pack Walks in Palos Verdes Estates for Training and Socialization

One of my favorite things I offer each month is our Neighborhood Pack Walk in Palos Verdes Estates. These walks give dogs and owners a chance to practice real world skills in a supportive and structured environment.

Training does not only happen in your living room or during a class. Dogs learn best when they practice skills in different environments with real life distractions. That is exactly what these walks provide.

What Is a Pack Walk?

A pack walk is a structured group walk led by a trainer where multiple dogs and their owners walk together while maintaining appropriate space between each dog.

Unlike a dog park or playgroup, the focus is not on dogs interacting directly with each other. Instead, the goal is for dogs to practice calm behavior while simply being around other dogs.

This helps dogs learn an important skill. They learn how to coexist peacefully in the presence of other dogs.

Why Pack Walks Are So Helpful

Many dogs struggle with excitement, anxiety, or reactivity when they see other dogs on walks. A structured pack walk allows them to practice staying calm while gradually building confidence.

These walks help dogs:

  • Build confidence around other dogs

  • Practice calm leash walking in a real world setting

  • Improve focus on their owner despite distractions

  • Learn to coexist peacefully with other dogs nearby

Because we maintain space between dogs, the environment stays safe, predictable, and low pressure.

Especially Helpful for Nervous or Reactive Dogs

Dogs who are nervous, easily overstimulated, or reactive toward other dogs often benefit the most from pack walks.

Instead of unpredictable greetings or overwhelming environments, they get controlled exposure while staying at a comfortable distance. Over time, many dogs begin to relax and feel more confident simply being in the presence of other dogs.

It is one of the best ways to practice the skills we work on during training.

A Chance for Owners to Learn Too

Another great part of these walks is that owners can ask training questions while we walk.

Whether you are working on leash manners, reactivity, focus, or general obedience, I am happy to offer guidance and tips during the walk. It is a relaxed way to troubleshoot training challenges and learn more about your dog.

Join Our Next Neighborhood Pack Walk

Our pack walks take place monthly in Palos Verdes Estates and are open to dogs with a variety of personalities.

The walk lasts about one hour, and the cost is $25 per dog.

If your dog could benefit from practicing calm behavior around other dogs, or if you simply want to enjoy a beautiful walk with fellow dog lovers, I would love for you to join us.
